-------------------------------OPTIONAL DEMO QUESTIONS

Any feedback you give would be greatly appreciated!

1) Which version did you play? Windows, Linux, or Mac? And did you run into any bugs or glitches?

2) What was your overall impression of the demo? Did you enjoy it? Did it keep your interest?

3) What did you think of the animated backgrounds (i.e. the heat wave effect)? Did it add anything to the experience? Currently, there is an option in "settings" to turn the heat wave backgrounds on and off.

4) How was my overall writing? Did it flow well? Was there any moment that you felt the dialogue was awkward or stilted?

5) Was there anything that you didn't like about the game or that you want to be changed? Do you have any suggestions for improvement? This question is especially important because I'm still at the stage where tweaking and changing things around is relatively easy.

It's late at night, and I'm kinda sleepy, so these responses are probably not articulated well.

1) Which version did you play? Windows, Linux, or Mac? And did you run into any bugs or glitches?

I played the latest version of the demo on the Mac. No bugs or glitches.

2) What was your overall impression of the demo? Did you enjoy it? Did it keep your interest?

I enjoyed it, and I'm definitely interested, but I'm a bit disappointed with the length. It was still pretty fun, though. I'm looking forward to the extended demo!

3) What did you think of the animated backgrounds (i.e. the heat wave effect)? Did it add anything to the experience? Currently, there is an option in "settings" to turn the heat wave backgrounds on and off.

I thought the heat wave effect was cool, and the option to turn it off was much appreciated because I got a bit dizzy after a while. It gave off that summery feel, and it really added to the atmosphere.

4) How was my overall writing? Did it flow well? Was there any moment that you felt the dialogue was awkward or stilted?

The writing was pretty solid, but I think you could've worked a bit more on how Rin gets involved with Leon and Ryan. I also love the dynamics between Nico and Rin; he's my favorite love interest so far. Gotta love those mischievous types.

5) Was there anything that you didn't like about the game or that you want to be changed? Do you have any suggestions for improvement? This question is especially important because I'm still at the stage where tweaking and changing things around is relatively easy.

I know you're tweaking the GUI design, so you'll probably already have taken these into consideration, but I kinda wish there was an option for adjusting the transparency of the speech box. I really appreciate the style of the game, so I really wanted to see more bits of the art, as in the characters' clothing and a bit more of the background. I also found the text used a bit jarring. It wouldn't be bad when used for titles/headings, though. Also, you could only name your character once, which was kind of humorous, because I named Rin "George Washington" and I didn't know it was unchangeable until I did a second playthrough. Oops. My suggestion is that you can be allowed to name Rin at the start of a new game/playthrough. The name thing isn't really important, though.

6) What was your favorite aspect/part of the demo?

The style, design, art, and theme for the main menu was pretty great. I thought it was cool when Rin opened her eyes if you began a game. The funky, kind of punk-ish/hip-hop aesthetic of the game was also rather neat. As for favorite parts story-wise, I really liked it when Rin said her rather sassy dialogue. Speaking about Rin, I love her, even more so than Nico, haha! I also think I'm smelling a tragic backstory on her. I'm interested in finding the reason behind her adrenaline junkie trait, and why she was probably dead in the beginning of the game.

I might edit this tomorrow for grammatical reasons/writing in better answers. Anyway, the demo was pretty good, and keep up the good work!

(Edited 1 time)

Hi Watermelon Merchant, thank you for taking the time to give me feedback on the game! It makes me very happy to know that you like the art style of the game. The story line in the beginning of the game will be changed in the extended demo because I also think that the justification for Rin following Leon is pretty weak. And I'll keep in mind your suggestion to adjust the transparency of the textbox, but I'll have to see if doing so will still have the textbox look fitting with the rest of the GUI because I don't want it to be jarring. Otherwise, there's always the "Hide" button to hide the GUI if you want a better look at the character designs. There has been a few people who have wanted an option to change Rin's name after it has been set, so I'll try to have an option for that outside of the story line because I don't want to have the opening scene repeated for the sake of continuity in the game. As for Rin, I'm so glad that you like her as a character. I wanted to write an interesting female protagonist with a strong personality because I'm a huge fan of those, so hopefully, I'll do them justice!

Stay tuned for the extended demo! :)

(Edited 1 time)

1. Mac, no glitches

2. I really enjoyed it. Every detail contributed to the overall feeling of the game and it was really fitting.

3.  I didn't personally mind the heat waves although after a while it makes me a bit dizzy; the option to turn it off is great. I think of the heat waves as also a sign that the summers are actually a dream so it contributed to the playing experience for me.

4. I never felt the writing was wasted time however the fact that Rin didn't directly ask Leon what was wrong was kinda weird for me even with the reasoning although I can see why it's needed. Then again, this is more opinion-based.  I loved every second of playing though.

5. The text box change was a bit crazy. I don't mind having different kinds of text boxes but I think two or three are enough. Everything else is awesome.

6. The home page's music really fitted the whole atmosphere of the game and made me feel excited and ready to play. The music on a whole was fitting really. The format made everything accessible; I particularly love the setting's format and options.

Thank you for making this game and giving your time and effort into it. I can't wait to play the extended demo :D.

Hi TitaniaTan, thank you very much for your encouraging feedback! About the reasons why Rin didn't directly ask Leon, I also felt this was a little weak, so I'm currently trying to re-write this part of the story to make it more believable. As for the text boxes, I was going for the comic-book style, which will come in handy later in the story. Of course, I understand that having the text boxes constantly change will be something that might require a lot of getting used to. I'm sorry to hear that you didn't like them, but I hope they don't bother you so much that you can't overlook them.

I'm excited to show you all the extended demo! You can bet I'm working hard on it :D

Truly, thanks for all the hard work you put in this, I can't imagine all the work that's needed to make the writing as intriguing as you wrote it, much less handle all other aspects of the game just to get an extended demo out. Also, I forgot to add that there was no direct quit button on the home page although this may be intentional. All the best for the game :D

(Edited 1 time)

Haha yeah, getting the extended demo out turns out to be more work than I expected, but there's steady progress! And yes, there's intentionally no apparent quit button on the home page, but you can just press the "Esc" key to get to the quit menu. This is so that the main menu screen doesn't look too cluttered. Thanks for the kind words!

Okay.... I recently try it, so here I go :

1) Windows 32 bit, and it has no bugs as far as I played it.

2) It's a bit short for my liking, but somehow it intrigue me and sure the burning question of "how the hell hundred times of repeated summer happen?? how the hell they know each others??" will keep me interested for its release ^^

3) The heat wave has two effects for me : First, it adds the atmosphere of the story , which is good. But, the second one, it decrease the speed of the text. So, pardon me that I choose to turn it off altogether :'D

4) I could say it's a fine style of writing and storytelling but I still didn't see the significant effects of the choice (oh well, I believe it will be improved simultaneously with your progress in developing the game, and I'll wait for it ;)  )

5) A change in the choice of font is pretty appreciated, as I think it has been a rigid font for the theme of the story and a bit hard on the eyes as the font competing with the color of the background ^^;

6) My favourite part is the Home page, its slashing BGM, and the art for the characters ^^

Overall, I'll stay tune for its update~

(Edited 1 time)

Hi Sora, thank you for your feedback! I'm super glad to hear that the story managed to intrigue you, and as for the choices, there are some choices that matter more than others. For an example of one of the more meaningful choices in the current demo, the first choice you have to either leave Nicolas or bring him with you will ultimately decide whether or not he gets kidnapped as well. Unfortunately, in this short demo, you don't yet see the effects of your choices. As for the fonts, the GUI is still very much a work in progress and will be overhauled in the extended demo, so I hope you look forward to it :)

1) Windows~ No I didn't run into any bugs or glitches... from what I remember at least.. hehe.. he.

2) I loved it! I enjoyed it! The guys are adorable! I kinda forgot it was just a demo so i was surprised when it ended\d.

3) Oh, my, god. I didn't even realise about the heat wave effect until I stared at the background. I was like, WoAH.... Yea, it made it seem like it was actually hot there.

4) It was amazing! Honest, I love it! Not once did I think it was awkward.

5)Maybe when the protagonist [sorry i already forgot, ahah] and Nico follow the nerdy guy [sebby? ? ?] into the alleyway, I was surprised at the time-limited choice and i didn't react quick enough to choose because i was debating anndd it just ChOSE for ME or something lol. I didn't mind it, but maybe make it a bit longer????  I was so surprised I couldn't weigh the pros and cons, hahahahaa... haaaaa......

And also, what everyone said, hah. But you probably got that a lot, so I won't say anything on that matter anymore.

6) Nico and ProTagOnISt sHIp [i shall call her pro-chan]!!!

or Ryan [sorry if thats not his name, i've been playing otome games back to back haa...] and pro-chan.... like the dude with purple hair aggh, he seems like he's to die for hehe.

Nah, jokes [not really], I loved the whOlE game!! I'm looking forward to the finished product!

I expect highly of you, joking... kinda. Don't worry, whatever the finished product is, I'll love it!!! Good luck! Don't forget to chill though, you deserve it, my gosh.  AND treat yourself! Don't overwork yourself >:(

(Edited 1 time)

Hi Sweetstar, thanks for your delightful feedback! Don't worry, I completely understand your issue with remembering names, especially given the demo was so short that you barely had a chance to get to know the characters. (It happens to me a lot with games, too!) As for the timed choice, I will make sure to increase the allotted time in the extended demo, as well as "alert!" warning whenever a timed event will occur soon, so hopefully, that will help. And I really appreciate your encouragement; I hope you'll stay tuned in for more! ^^

Nice game!

1. I played the Mac version, there was no issues.

2. I loved the demo! It was very interesting! I also love the aesthetics of the game, the music, character design, everything!

3. I liked the heatwave background, at first it kinda made me lightheaded but I got used to it, when I did I thought it was really unique.

4. Your writing was great! It felt very realistic and appropriate for the situation.

5. I agree with everyone about the text boxes. I love the character font but I don't really like the regular font. I like the white on black tho.

6. My favorite aspect was the aesthetic and character design.

Good luck with the finished product!

Hi Tigress, thanks for your encouraging feedback! I'm extremely happy to hear that you liked the art direction. As for the fonts, the GUI is still very much a work in progress and will be overhauled in the extended demo, so I hope you look forward to it! :)

(Edited 1 time)

1) I play the Windows version and so far I have not run into any bugs or glitches. The game went smoothly.

2) I love this game, even if it's only the demo. I enjoyed it a lot. I'm not really fond of this kind of genre but this game is an exception. That was short-lived experience since it's only a demo and now I keep looking forward for more.

3) The background is fine, with or without the heatwave. I appreciate that it wants to feel more realistic, and actually it kinda is because of the art. I think that the colors of the background is enough to make it feel like it's really summer and hot. So the heatwave is just adding more to the hot effect, I guess.

4) The writing is good. Easy to understand and intriguing. The story flow well, you can't help but wait for more. The conversation between Rin and Nicolas is entertaining.

5) The text box. I'm not really comfortable with it changing every time. It distracts me from focusing on the text since I have to look where it's pointing every time. I think that it's fine if it changes shape but the pointing is not really that important since the name of the one who's saying it is already written there.

6) The timer for the choices. This really got me I panicked and click whatever. It's realistic because in real life, you are not given the luxury of time to choose what to do in a certain situation. You have to think and decide quick, especially if life is on the line, so this is my favorite so far since it's the first game where I encounter this.

Hi ZworlCaliba, thank you for your encouraging feedback. I'm very happy to hear that this game still managed to capture your interest, even if you're not a fan of this genre. Also, thank you for sharing your thoughts on the changing textbox. I've been receiving mixed reviews on it. Some want the pointer to be more visible, and some don't want the box to change at all. I'm hoping to gather more feedback before ultimately making a decision, although right now it's leaning toward keeping changing textboxes just for the sake of trying something new. I'm glad you liked the timer! I try to make choices reflect reality as much as possible, so to know that I was able to achieve that, even just a little, is very heartening. In the future, though, I planning to add an indicator before certain quicktime events so that people won't panic so much when they pop up. I hope you stay tuned for more updates of the game! :)

So I tried to play the game again and check what will happen if I choose different choices. The part where Rin chose to go with Nicolas to buy popsicle at Seven's, suddenly two Nicolas appeared when we tried to save Leon. The first time I played, Rin went with Nicolas. The second, she went alone. And at the third time, she went with Nicolas then two of him was there. There's a bug or glitch I suppose? And also, I can't change the name of MC anymore. The page where we will write it won't appear when starting a new game.

Hi ZworlCaliba, are you playing the most updated version of the demo? The multiple Nico is an old bug I should have fixed a while back, but I will double check if the problem still occurs. Also, I intended the name of the heroine to be constant throughout the game for plot reasons, so you can name her only at the beginning of the game. However, if there is enough feedback against having a consistent name, I might change this feature.

1) Which version did you play? Windows, Linux, or Mac? And did you run into any bugs or glitches?

Mac, no bugs or glitches.

2) What was your overall impression of the demo? Did you enjoy it? Did it keep your interest?

It was good! The art is pleasing and I love stories about time-loops and otomes. I can't wait for the game to come out.

3) What did you think of the animated backgrounds (i.e. the heat wave effect)? Did it add anything to the experience? Currently, there is an option in "settings" to turn the heat wave backgrounds on and off.

It doesn't bother me but it doesn't wow me either.

4) How was my overall writing? Did it flow well? Was there any moment that you felt the dialogue was awkward or stilted?

I think it's fine

5) Was there anything that you didn't like about the game or that you want to be changed? Do you have any suggestions for improvement? This question is especially important because I'm still at the stage where tweaking and changing things around is relatively easy.

Personally I have a fear of glitches, so the glitchy red text that occured after you enter your name really freaked me out the first time lol... (Is that a thing that only happens if you don't go by Rin?) Though I don't expect you to accommodate one person's specific phobia. I'll survive.

6) What was your favorite aspect/part of the demo?

That the protagonist is... not a self-sacrificingly good person. She admits to only being interested in the drunk-seeming guy (i'm bad with names lol) because of curiosity and abandoned the heat-stroke-suffering guy and ATE HIS POPSICLE. On one hand it bothers me because I want to be nice to everyone even in games, but she makes for a much more interesting character than those stupidly naive MCs in other otomes. I'm curious to see how her selfishness ties into why she caused the time loop.

(Edited 3 times)

Hi niuniuzheng, thank you very much for taking the time to answer my questions! I'm sorry I can't do much about the glitchy word effect, since it's integral to the game, but I hope the disclaimer in the beginning prepared you for it, even if only a little. As for the protagonist's personality, if it's any consolation, I can tell you that she starts out, in your words, selfish, but the choices you make in-game can determine whether she has character development or not. Regardless, I'm aiming to portray the protagonist as a believable, flawed human, rather than a perfect being. Hope you look forward to seeing more of the game!

1- I played windows version and experienced no lag at all on my MSI laptop.

2- My first thought was that I realllyyyy love the soundtrack for it, i love that I can change her name, It took me a moment to get into the flow but when I did I became really intrigued and wanted to know more.

3- I like the heatwave animation, it adds an atmosphere to the story and gives it that real life hazy feel, and since she has repeated this summer a thousand times it makes sense to have that haziness. I also like how you've done the character animations, it helps to engage players that much more into their world.

4- The writing is enjoyable, it suits how you've portrayed the characters and flows nicely.

5- Hmm, maybe having the timer a little longer, just a smidge because when it came up I wasn't prepared (like in real life I suppose haha) and I didn't really have time to read it, I just froze and let it run out... ^^;

6- My absolute favourite thing is the music especially the title music, and I love the error type animation of the first scene where you name rin. I like the colour silhouettes for the characters.

Overall I can't wait for the full version! :D I'm excited to see where you take this and good luck :)

(Edited 1 time)

Hi Reinakitty! Thank you so much for your helpful feedback. I had been wondering if the heat wave effect made the game lag on all computers, but since you mentioned that you experienced no lag on your MSI laptop (which I assume to be powerful), I think I can conclude that the lag depends on the type of computer the game is played on; it's a good piece of info to take into account. And I'm so glad that many people enjoy the character animations, since at the beginning of the game development, I wasn't sure at all if the animations was worth to include. I'm also very happy that you like the color silhouettes because I wanted the character sprites to pop out against the backgrounds. I had a lot of fun choosing the game's soundtrack, and I'm a big fan of the music for the title screen as well. Many thanks for your encouragement, and I hope you stay tuned for more!

(Edited 1 time)

1) I played this game on windows! So far, everything is running smoothly : D

2) I really enjoyed it! Even if it was just a demo, it definitely piqued my interest. I'm curious as to what will happen next. Also, the texting with the phone screenshot?! That seems really interesting :0

3) I thought the heat waves were kind of just there at first, but after I didn't really like it when I took it off. It was nice as it kind of filled up the screen. The only thing is, it kind of makes the text loading a little choppy or laggy, not to the point where it's intolerable though. I love the cute walking animations! It kind of gives it a sense of life? lol idk how to explain.

4) I'm not really a writer, but I thought the writing was fine and that it flowed well. I like the relationship between Nicholas and Rin.

5) The only thing that I can really think of is the lag with the heat waves but I feel like that might just be my laptop lol

6) My favourite part of the demo is honestly when Nicholas and Rin get mugged lol. I really love how we are able to see the characters move and see that they are getting mugged and choked! It gives it a sense of realism :3 I also really love how certain choices are given a timer. I think it's a really unique idea.

Overall, I really like the game and I'm realllllly looking forward to the full game, even if I have to spend money on it haha

(Edited 1 time)

Hi Sheawrrr! Thank you so much for your answers :) I'm so glad you enjoyed the demo. I've received some feedback that the heat waves were laggy, so if I'm unable to tweak them, then I'll probably just take them out. I'm happy to hear you liked how the sprite movements and the timer contributed to the action! Really appreciate your support and hope you look forward to seeing more.

1) Which version did you play? Windows, Linux, or Mac? And did you run into any bugs or glitches?

Windows! Nope, everything went smoothly.

2) What was your overall impression of the demo? Did you enjoy it? Did it keep your interest?

It did. I really enjoy the premise, and I look forward to unraveling the mystery :D

3) What did you think of the animated backgrounds (i.e. the heat wave effect)? Did it add anything to the experience? Currently, there is an option in "settings" to turn the heat wave backgrounds on and off.

I thought it was neat. I'm used to pretty static BGs in VNs so it was different. I like seeing devs try new things!

4) How was my overall writing? Did it flow well? Was there any moment that you felt the dialogue was awkward or stilted?

Mmm. No, I felt the dialogue was pretty natural. I like the relationship between Nico and MC. I think a lot of people play argue with their friends so it felt natural.

There was just one error where MC says, "Whatever happened to “I’m not so old that that the heat will keep me from having fun?” " There's a double 'that'

5) Was there anything that you didn't like about the game or that you want to be changed? Do you have any suggestions for improvement? This question is especially important because I'm still at the stage where tweaking and changing things around is relatively easy.

Hmmm. No, I don't think there was anything in particular. I loved the changing dialogue boxes, because I feel that in some VNs it can be difficult to tell when a character is talking or just thinking, so having the dialogue box shift to a "thought bubble" was helpful.

6) What was your favorite aspect/part of the demo?

Learning the mystery! I was waiting for it. I love a good mystery so it made me really excited about the finished game. I can't wait to see it :)

I'm going to write an entry about the demo in my blog, so I'll be sure to share it when it's finished.

Hi Bellannmae! Thank you very much for taking the time to answer the demo questions. Your feedback was very encouraging! And thank you for pointing out that typo; I'm surprised that pesky thing wasn't caught this entire time. I'm overjoyed to know that you found the mystery aspect of the game intriguing, as it was and is one of the things I'm afraid of executing poorly. I hope I can carry the momentum I have so far throughout the rest of the story. If my drafts are any indication, you're in for a wild ride!

And by all means, please do let me know when your blog entry is up. I would be more than happy to read it :) Many thanks!

http://pajamagaming.blogspot.com/2017/08/doomed-to-repeat-operation-future.html

In case it doesn't get to you on Twitter :) Can't wait to see more!

1) Which version did you play? Windows, Linux, or Mac? And did you run into any bugs or glitches?
I played on windows and except when i try to save during time menu which you already know i didn't find anything else

2) What was your overall impression of the demo? Did you enjoy it? Did it keep your interest?
The story seem interesting and plot going well and seem not cliche visual novel

3) What did you think of the animated backgrounds (i.e. the heat wave effect)? Did it add anything to the experience? Currently, there is an option in "settings" to turn the heat wave backgrounds on and off.
I prefer turn it off as i found it disturb me

4) How was my overall writing? Did it flow well? Was there any moment that you felt the dialogue was awkward or stilted?
I think the dialogue flow well

5) Was there anything that you didn't like about the game or that you want to be changed? Do you have any suggestions for improvement? This question is especially important because I'm still at the stage where tweaking and changing things around is relatively easy.
I actually find the background a bit distracting which rarely happen when i play visual novel game. maybe the bg should faded more.. and i prefer the dialog box not change shape.. (i prefer when only the text change for example italic for thought, bold or bigger text when angry etc) i found the dialog box keep changing shape when i klik pretty distracting though maybe it just me

6) What was your favorite aspect/part of the demo?
i actually like the story and i like the character development too. i found i love how they thinking revealed their personality. and i think the heroine personality is great too.. not the cliche cinderella heroine XD

(Edited 1 time)

Hi RinValentine! Thank you very much for your feedback. Because this is my first visual novel, I have been trying a lot of new things such as the heatwave backgrounds and the changing text boxes and taking into consideration the responses I get from the players, so your input was greatly appreciated. I'm also very happy to hear that you liked the story and the heroine! Hope you look forward to seeing more of the game :)

1) Which version did you play? Windows, Linux, or Mac? And did you run into any bugs or glitches?

i played the windows version and the only bug i ran into  (unless this isnt one lol) is one i accidentally pressed  save at the top and this weird screen came up and i had to log out of the game but it didnt happen again so idk

2) What was your overall impression of the demo? Did you enjoy it? Did it keep your interest?

i did enjoy it actually. i thought it was some cute summer romance with some lil mystery about a murder or something and then she's kidnapped and im like !?!?!? and when Leon tells the mc about reliving summer i was like omg what bc i didnt read the summary above to surprise me for the actual plot (also leon is fave character rn lmao he seems like he's gonna be crazy best boy)

3) What did you think of the animated backgrounds (i.e. the heat wave effect)? Did it add anything to the experience? Currently, there is an option in "settings" to turn the heat wave backgrounds on and off.

it was eh for me. i kept it on the first time playing it but then turned it off the second time so it doesnt really bother me if it's there or not

4) How was my overall writing? Did it flow well? Was there any moment that you felt the dialogue was awkward or stilted?

i liked the convo between mc and nico bc it's cute and theyre just play arguing which i like. the only thing i thought was like eh was when mc calls them bastards but thats prolly bc i never here people use that word lmao so it's prolly just me.

5) Was there anything that you didn't like about the game or that you want to be changed? Do you have any suggestions for improvement? This question is especially important because I'm still at the stage where tweaking and changing things around is relatively easy.

im not super sure yet but i think i'll play a few more times through the game to see if there's anything i would add but for right now i'd say when you press skip make it go faster. the pace rn isnt horrible and it personally isnt bad for me but my sister pointed it out to me when she played it so it might bother other people

6) What was your favorite aspect/part of the demo?

the art is really cute?? i like the whole thing where they walk and stuff. also the shadows for non important characters is nice. usually theyre just not there at all so  i liked that they were. also um leon is gonna be my fave i can feel it (which is weird bc i usually like the more emo lookin ones like ryan lmao) and oflsdjnjl when i read ameriya was doing the cgs i nearly??? passed out??? bc they're one of my fave artists on deviantart?? and the bgs are super pretty. i also love the mc's sprite a lot. the plot is probably the second best thing bc WOW!! the whole 'mc is the reason behind them repeating their summers' was super cool and ive never seen any plot like that. (only heard a song with the same premise) and when mc gets those weird glitchy flashbacks and how it looks like she's dying gives me a bad feeling on WHY theyre repeating summer. lots of questions and no answers until the full release which im super duper excited for. keep up the amazing work and good luck <333

Hi dulcet! Thank you very much for taking the time to answer the questions. It gave me newfound encouragement!

1) Sorry, I have a mac, and I don't see the "save" button you're referring to. I'm glad it didn't happen again, though!

2) Haha, I'm happy that the game managed to throw some surprises at you (and your reactions are hilarious). And one vote for Leon, woot! Although this first part of the story focused more on Rin and Nicolas, the next part will focus more on Leon and Ryan. Hope you look forward to it!

3) I plan on tweaking the heat wave effect to make it more appealing. If not, I hope the option is turn it off is enough!

4) I tried my best to make the banter between Nicolas and Rin as entertaining as possible, so I'm delighted to know that you liked it. As for the MC's choice of words, I was debating between "bastards" and "jerks." Do you think "jerks" would be more fitting? I fail at throwing insults lol.

5) I agree that the skipping is slow, especially with the heat wave effect on. I do plan to have a "jump ahead" feature in the full game!

6) Reading this put a huge smile on my face! Thank you so much for the kind words. Ameriya is one of my favorite DA artists too, so I was ecstatic when she agreed to draw my CGs for me. You might have noticed already, but the banner image at the top of this page was done by her! It also made me extremely happy to know that you like the plot. I think I know what song you're talking about, and it may or may not have had an influence on me as I was writing this story, haha. Hope you stay tuned for the extended demo!

4) "assholes" is what i personally thought but if you're not cursing in the game then jerks works fine!

6) i think it was called heat-haze days, the song i mean. but yesss im so weak to cute art and your style is exactly that

So ... where's the download?

(Edited 1 time)

Hi Shona! The download is back up, and this new version of the demo includes a custom history screen when you scroll up. Sorry for the inconvenience, and I hope you enjoy the demo :)

I did, even if it was a bit too short to get a good impression, imo.

1) Which version did you play? Windows, Linux, or Mac? And did you run into any bugs or glitches?

I played the Windows version. The only bug I noticed is that the clock didn't change when I switched to 24 hour format, and the heat effects didn't disappear immediately.

2) What was your overall impression of the demo? Did you enjoy it? Did it keep your interest?

I liked it. I didn't read anything about the game beforehand and was led to believe to believe that I was playing a coming of age game by the tone in the beginning. Needless to say that the twist at the end completely surprised me and made me want to read further. :)

3) What did you think of the animated backgrounds (i.e. the heat wave effect)? Did it add anything to the experience? Currently, there is an option in "settings" to turn the heat wave backgrounds on and off.

They're not a bad idea but I personally couldn't enjoy the effects since they slowed down the game and my laptop considerably. Even after turning them off in the settings they didn't disappear until the next scene.

4) How was my overall writing? Did it flow well? Was there any moment that you felt the dialogue was awkward or stilted?

I think the dialogue was fine. The only part I found strange is how the heroine wants to follow Leon with a weak justification. It was mentioned that he was muttering to himself the whole time, but only after the heroine had been tailing him for a while. Something like that should be said at the beginning.

5) Was there anything that you didn't like about the game or that you want to be changed? Do you have any suggestions for improvement? This question is especially important because I'm still at the stage where tweaking and changing things around is relatively easy.

Please don't refer to Ryan as "blackhead" ^^; I don't know if that was intentional, but I can't help but associate him with pimples and skin problems otherwise.  I also urge you to improve the skipping feature. As it stands, it's painfully slow and if it's like this in the final game, I won't be playing through FD more than once.

6) What was your favorite aspect/part of the demo?

I love the art, both the sprites and the backgrounds. There are so many different scenes in such a short demo. The music is very fitting too! There wasn't a single track I disliked, or which didn't match the mood.  The heroine has me intrigued as well. She seems different from the usual otome game heroines, which is something I'm always down for.

Thank you so much for taking the time to answer the demo questions, Shona! It was extremely helpful.

1) In regards to the clock formatting, a surprise coding error managed to sneak in. Sorry about that, and thanks for pointing it out! I managed to fix the bug, so it should work properly in my next demo update. As for the heat wave effect, the way the system is coded doesn't allow for the heat wave to turn off immediately. So unfortunately, turning off the heat wave effect for all future scenes seems to be the best I can do.

2) Your initial assumption is not wrong; the game is a coming of age story in some sense. Only with thriller elements thrown into the mix. I'm overjoyed to hear that the story managed to intrigue you!

3) I agree that the heat wave effect needs improvement. Hopefully, I can tweak it so that it's not as laggy, but if not, I hope the option to turn it off suffices.

4) I'm pretty sure the MC made note of how strange Leon seemed as soon as she saw him (if you choose to go alone): "There was an unfocused, dead look in his eyes that hadn't been there before, and he looked like he was muttering to himself." If the MC is with Nicolas, she also points it out to Nicolas before they start tailing Leon. I will go through these scenes again to make sure. However, I do agree that the justification behind her following Leon is a little weak. I will try to come up with a stronger reason for her to tail him. But I also think this seemingly whimsical decision does highlight her character as a thrill-seeker, almost to the point of desperation.

5) Sorry to say this, but it was very intentional. I'll be the first to admit that my humor (and definitely the MC's, as is her character) can be juvenile at times, haha. However, she refers to him by that for only a short amount of time, so I hope you can overlook it if you don't find it at all funny. Thanks for your input of the skipping feature. I agree that the skipping is slow, especially with the heat wave effect on. I do plan to have a "jump ahead" feature in the full game to mitigate this issue!

6) Thank you for the immense encouragement, especially about the heroine! I was somewhat nervous about how she would be received, so I'm very relieved to have positive reception so far :) I hope you look forward to seeing more in the extended demo!

I'm fine with it if it was intentional, but it doesn't come off that way (imo). It may help to have the main character smirk briefly at the image it conjures, or something along the lines.

Another thing I forgot to mention, the font makes it hard to read the text.

> I hope you look forward to seeing more in the extended demo!

I definitely am. :)

I just played the Demo and I LOVE IT! <3

I really love them walking, facing each other when talking. It's rare to see a VN/Otome like this!

The music, the characters (especially The duo Nico and MC, they're savage XD), the clock (tbh I don't know what is this for), the plot, the heatwave (THIS IS SO COOL although it kinda makes me a bit dizzy). Maybe the only thing that I didn't really like it's the font, it kinda confused me :/ Overall, they're GREAT!

I'm so exciteeddd, can't wait for more updates and the full version. Fighting! :3

Hi Squishybunny! I'm overjoyed to hear that you loved the demo <3 It puts a big smile on my face to know that you enjoy watching the duo get into trouble. The clock will see its use when the phone feature is implemented in the game (as well as other surprise features I have planned. Kekeke.) I agree , the heatwave can feel a little psychedelic, but there's an option in "settings" to turn it off. As for the font, which one confused you? I have received feedback that the font in the dialogue history screen is difficult to read, and I am currently working to change it, but if another font confused you, please let me know! Thank you for your feedback and your support :)

This seems like it's going to make a fine vn. I really enjoyed the little animations and character placement and movement. I don't often see characters actually facing the speaker, nor do I see them 'walk', so this was really refreshing. :)

The writing is quirky and the music is really good as well.

Hi Lehxra! Thanks for your very encouraging feedback :) At the beginning of the game development, I was pretty hesitant to try new things because I wasn't sure if people were going to react to them positively, but in the end, I decided to just go for it. And I'm glad I did! I also had a lot of fun with the writing and with choosing the music. Hope you look forward to seeing more of the game!
